Great Spotted Woodpecker Dendrocopos major
The Great Spotted Woodpecker clings to branches and tree trunks. It is a striking black and white bird, handsomely marked. Its underparts are creamy-white. The male has a distinctive red patch on the back of the head, and the young birds have a red crown.
